Tips for a Healthy Face Wash

It seems like a no-brainer; washing your face is one of the most basic elements of any skincare routine, but it’s easy to slack off and skip some steps. It’s essential to be intentional because it lays the foundation for your entire skincare regimen.

Cleaning your skin is essential for washing away dirt, dead skin cells, makeup, and anything else that might clog your pores or cause general dullness. So let’s explore how to perfect this practice.

Wash Your Hands

Even if your hands don’t look or feel dirty, it’s always best to wash them before you begin cleaning your face. Otherwise, as you wash, you may drive grime and bacteria deeper into your facial pores.

Water Temperature

Think Goldilocks and the Three Bears; not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Wet your face with lukewarm water using your fingers, making sure you cover the entire area.

Apply Your Cleanser

Not all cleansers are created equal. Many on the market use harsh and drying surfactants, petrochemicals as preservatives, and other unsavory ingredients. That’s why I started using natural cleansers on my mature skin. I wanted my cleanser to be well-balanced and gentle – not harsh.

I’ve been washing my face with Monoi Age Corrective Exfoliating Cleanser for over a year. I apply a small amount to my skin and massage gently with my fingertips in a circular motion covering the face and neck areas day and night. It helps remove some dry skin and leaves my skin feeling smooth and fresh. I always use my hands to clean my skin gently. If you prefer cleaning on a deeper level, you can always use a cleansing brush, but you must be diligent in cleaning the brushing tool.

I have recently added the Kombucha Microbiome Foaming Cleanser into my routine twice a week. I like this liquid-to-foam cleanser because it gently removes impurities without over-stripping moisture from my skin. The Kombucha Ferment enhances the smoothness of my skin and leaves it with a healthy glow.

Rinse & Pat Dry

After washing your face, don’t skip the area around your chin and neck; thoroughly rinse the cleanser off with lukewarm water. Gently pat your skin dry with a towel, and avoid rubbing or tugging on your skin. Use a soft, clean cloth on your face, and select a new towel daily because bacteria can breed on the towel and end up on your clean face.

Enhance Your Routine

After washing and drying, begin your skincare routine. I’ve had a consistent skincare routine for about a year now and was happy with how my skin looked. But after a summer spent out in the sun, I noticed that my skin lacked a glow and looked flat and dry. So I started applying the Kombucha Microbiome Balancing Essence to my skin after washing. This essence primes the skin for all the products to follow in your skincare routine. It contains White Tea, which helps to maintain healthy-looking skin by combating the look of dullness.

While skipping the face wash might save you a few minutes in the morning, and the evening, you’ll spend more time dealing with the negative after effects. Do not neglect washing your face since it is one of the most effective ways to achieve a clearer and brighter complexion and will leave your skin feeling softer and smoother.
